Summary

This order revises and extends the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation. It directs the Council to promote volunteer service, encourage the President's Volunteer Service Award, support local nonprofits and volunteer centers, improve public access to volunteer opportunities (including online), and seek greater private sponsorship.

The Council must also advise the agency that runs national service programs on outreach and educational materials and make recommendations to the White House; the Council is extended through January 29, 2007.
