Summary

This order creates the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal and sets rules for awarding it. It applies to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who serve or served in Iraq, Syria, or contiguous waters or airspace on or after June 15, 2014, until a terminal date set by the Secretary of Defense.

Defense will issue the regulations, and Homeland Security will do so for the Coast Guard when it is not operating with the Navy. The order allows posthumous awards and lets service members choose this medal instead of the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal for the same service.
