Most schedules take effect on the first day of the first applicable pay period beginning on or after January 1, 2023; military basic pay takes effect January 1, 2023. The order supersedes Executive Order 14061 of December 22, 2021, which had set the prior year's rates.

The order supersedes last year's equivalent order on the same effective dates, ensuring no gap or overlap between the two pay regimes.
